The Laboratory is located in the Department of Zoology at the University of Brasília, Brasília, DF, Brazil. It has an area of approximately 40 m² and is equipped with all necessary tools and materials for measuring colouration in the ultraviolet (UV), visible (VIS), and near-infrared (NIR) spectra (hyperspectral camera, UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometers, modified full spectrum UV-VIS-NIR digital cameras, and thermal camera), as well as for conducting ecological and behavioural experiments (traps, magnifying glasses, analytical balance, 3D printer, camcorders, computers).

Additionally, the University owns a 4500-hectare area located just 30 km from the Laboratory - Fazenda Água Limpa - with native Cerrado biome vegetation for field experiments (http://www.fal.unb.br). Nearby the University, there are also several conservation units, such as the Brasília National Park (10 km from the University).
